LSP is the Leadership Programs' leadership induction program. Since 2002, we have served novice and beginning school leaders in the Bay Area and in Southern California, supporting them toward attaining the Clear Administrative Services Credential. Viet is responsible for and oversees all parts of LSP, including: recruitment and admissions, developing curriculum, facilitation of Seminar groups, supporting staff, and assessing student progress.
In addition to coordinating LSP, Viet supports and guides leadership coaches who support leaders in all our programs, include those in 21CSLA Bay Area Regional Academy. He spearheaded the development and presentation of our Coaching for Social Justice and Equity 3-day training and leads ongoing professional development for novice and veteran coaches. Viet also has served as an Instructor in the Principal Leadership Institute (PLI) leadership preparation program and supports other Leadership Programs initiatives, including Leaders of Color Network (Berkeley Unified School District) and Change Makers (building resilience in veteran school principals). He also has presented to international school leaders both in Berkeley and abroad, including most recently in Shenzhen, China. He co-authored the revision of the Leadership Connection Rubric, a research-based set of program standards for leadership preparation and induction.
Prior to joining the Leadership Programs team, Viet spent 15 years as a school teacher and administrator, serving the students of the Oakland Unified School District. He is the founding principal of East Oakland PRIDE Elementary and was recognized as Co-Administrator of the Year (ACSA) and profiled in “ABC7 Salutes Heroes.”
Viet is a graduate of the Principal Leadership Institute (Cohort 5).
