Eva Beleche

Eva Beleche is a dedicated educator in Oakland Unified School District. In her 28 years in OUSD, she has taught grades from kinder to 5th, she has been a reading coach and a TSA. She is currently a 5th grade teacher at a dual language school.

She is currently a Master’s degree and Administrative Services Credential candidate in the 25th cohort of the Principal Leadership Institute program at UC Berkeley’s School of Education. Her interests in education are Multilingual and Multiculturalism, educational equity, and building sustainable school models that prioritize student belonging, teacher development and retention.

Originally from San Diego, Eva has made the Bay Area her home since 1989 when she moved north  to attend UC Berkeley. Eva received her B.A. from UC Berkeley in Chicano Studies with a minor in Education. She received her Teacher Credential from Cal State East Bay and a Reading specialist certificate from UCLA Extension. She is currently pursuing National Board Certification.

She has served on numerous committees at her school: Instructional leadership team (ILT) for 12 years, School Site Council (SSC) for 3 years, Culture and Climate Team (currently) and facilitates a Girl’s Leadership Group focused on Identity and Leadership. She has and continues to organize her school’s STEM fair. She has served as a Math Lead and a Science Lead at her school and the district level. In addition, Eva has spent the last 3 years as part of the district's STEM fair steering committee.

As a lifelong learner, Eva participates in Northwestern University’s Lead by Learning program that focuses on teacher inquiry projects that pushes her instruction and understanding of her students' learning. She just completed an Internship with Agency by Design Oakland focused on healing-centered leadership. She continuously engages in professional development with Community Resources for Science (CRS) and California Mathematics Council (CMC).

During her free time, Eva enjoys connecting with friends over coffee, hikes or a good meal. Eva has two children and two cats.
