Veronica Vasquez

Veronica serves as the STEM Faculty Advisor for the Berkeley Teacher Education Program (BTEP). Her journey in education began as an undergraduate in the CalTeach program at UC Santa Cruz, where she obtained her teaching credential and MA in Education. Throughout her career, she has held various roles including middle and high school science teacher, assistant principal, and teacher on special assignment, working with students, teachers, and communities in Watsonville, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and South San Francisco. Veronica is deeply committed to reducing barriers and expanding access to STEM education for BIPOC students. During her pursuit of a Master's in Teaching through the Global Field Program at Miami University, her focus was on enhancing opportunities for students and teachers to engage in inquiry as a means of advancing scientific literacy, critical thinking skills, and democratic agency at local and global levels.

In her role as STEM Faculty Advisor, Veronica is enthusiastic about assisting teachers in reimagining STEM education to foster inquiry-based, student-centered classrooms that empower ALL students to cultivate positive math and science identities through the promotion of critical thinking and self-efficacy.
