Assistant or Associate Researcher
The incumbent is expected to initiate and lead research activities that focus on expanding family access to high-quality child care and pre-kindergarten (pre-K) opportunities in Los Angeles County. Faculty in the Berkeley School of Education are partnering with local agencies to advance research that informs the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and programs that improve access to early childhood education. The Assistant/Associate Researcher will conduct independent and collaborative research. The research program examines barriers to expanding access to child care and pre-kindergarten by integrating, managing, and analyzing large administrative and survey datasets to generate evidence that informs research, practice, and public policy. Lecturer - Leaders for Equity and Democracy (LEAD) Program
We are generating an applicant pool of qualified part-time, non-tenure track Lecturers to teach in the Leaders for Equity and Democracy (LEAD) Program. Screening of applicants begins immediately and continues as needed. We are seeking outstanding part-time lecturers who can teach or co-teach courses in LEAD, which offers an education doctorate to practicing school leaders who aspire for system leadership positions. Teacher Special Programs (TSP) - Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP)
The TSP will teach within ATDP’s summer Elementary Division (ED, grades K-6), Secondary Division (SD, grades 7-12), or Global Programs (GP grades 7-12). This involves designing, and delivering age, grade, and achievement level student-centered curricula for a particular content area within the format and time parameters of a specific course, and whose teaching philosophy is aligned with ATDP’s mission and learner outcomes.

Teacher Special Programs - National Board Support Center
The Berkeley School of Education (BSE) at the University of California, seeks qualified temporary non-tenure track, part-time Facilitators or Co-Facilitators (Teacher - Special Programs or TSP) to provide support through the The National Board Resource Center (NBRC) at UC Berkeley for teachers seeking National Board Certification; a project of the Center for Research on Expanding Educational Opportunity (CREEO). The NBRC is designed to support teachers who serve in high need schools as identified by the State of California and in particular teachers who represent the student populations in those schools. Graduate Student Researcher
The graduate student researcher will clean data under the direction of the principal investigator (PI). Responsibilities include merging datasets that link student demographic characteristics, academic outcomes, and the teachers of their courses across multiple years. Experience using STATA and working with large and complex data is required. Knowledge of quasi-experimental research designs using natural experiments, difference-in-difference and event-study analyses is helpful. The position is for 20 hours a week for the summer and possible extension into fall 2025. The principle investigator (PI) is Dr. Tolani Britton, and Co-PI is Dr. Travis Bristol. Student Research Assistant: Work Study job # 7175954944
The Student Research Assistant will work closely with the CREEO team and will also have opportunities to work independently to support impactful research addressing gaps in knowledge related to educator ethnoracial diversity and educational equity within various CREEO projects, such as the California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC) or the National Board Resource Center (NBRC). Hourly rate to be discussed within $20-$22.50.
The primary responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the development of policy briefs;
- Supporting with CREEO projects; Participating in scheduled research meetings;
- Maintaining regular communication with the faculty supervisor regarding performance quality;
- Ensuring confidentiality of collected information in accordance with UCB and CREEO guidelines

Executive Assistant to the Dean
The Executive Assistant serves as the principal point of contact between the School of Education Dean and faculty, staff, students, and other constituencies. This position provides comprehensive, confidential, and professional support to the Dean, including coordinating communications and administrative processes within the executive office and among senior management staff. The Executive Assistant performs and oversees special projects or assignments that are sensitive or complex in nature, requiring a high level of independence and initiative. This position performs a variety of analytical duties in support of the Dean, prepares daily briefings, and assists the Dean and/or Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in drafting and modifying documents. Additionally, this position manages internal and external correspondence, contributes to administrative operations, including school-wide reviews and graduate student financial data, and serves as the safety officer and back-up building coordinator. Undergraduate Student Assistant
We seek undergraduate students who are excited about teaching just and sustainable orientations toward computer science to youth. We are exploring how computer science can be introduced in informal environments through storytelling and critical pedagogies - by partnering with Oakland Public Schools and designing a responsive curriculum that connects core computer science content to explorations of social justice. The project centers storytelling as a core practice, and examines the ways in which computing can enrich the kinds of stories that are being told, and the ways in which they are told. For example, digital storytelling can confront a reader with interactive choices to make, gaming elements that communicate the frustration or joy of particular experiences, multimedia, and DIY explorations that allow “readers” of stories to come to their own conclusions.
Requirements: Students who are proficient Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to join this project. We seek students with expertise in Computer Science, experience working with elementary aged students, and deep knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogies. Familiarity with computing and digital media specifically for storytelling is a plus.
Pay will be determined based on skill set.

Undergraduate Student Assistant
Responsibilities include: Administrative tasks, such as scanning documents, checking and sorting mail daily, notifying recipients of mail or packages, sending campus mail, and creating nameplates, posters, and forms; Collaborate with BSE faculty and Staff on special projects, which may include designing fliers, defining social media strategies, or collecting information for research purposes; Facilities-related responsibilities, which include assisting with room organization and setup; Front desk responsibilities, including greeting BSE visitors, verifying visitor appointments and ensuring they meet with their host, and assisting with directions, inquiries, and supply requests.
Required qualifications: Effective written communication skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; proficiency with basic office technology (email, photocopier, scanner, etc.); proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365; and strong customer service skills.
