Berkeley School of Education Professor Kris Gutiérrez was selected as a 2023 Fellow in The British Academy, an honor that includes becoming part of the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences. The British Academy selected 86 Fellows this year from multiple disciplines, mainly from universities in the UK.
"This election to The British Academy comes as such a lovely surprise," said Gutiérrez, who is also a member of the the National Academy of Education and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. "I am honored to be recognized by such an exceptional group of interdisciplinary and international scholars. I have already begun immersing myself in their scholarly initiatives."
The British Academy said this year's Fellows highlight "the depth and breadth of the SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy) disciplines and reflects the importance of interdisciplinary research."
Gutiérrez called The British Academy honor a "wonderful opportunity to keep learning and growing."
