Abstract:
Discover how Lesson Study, a cycle of continuous improvement originating in Japan, is being adapted in California to support equity-centered school leadership. This brief introduces the emergent Professional Learning Lesson Study (PLLS) model, a novel application of lesson study in the U.S. that supports professional learning leaders in engaging in a self-study of their professional development offerings. By applying iterative cycles of inquiry, planning, implementation, and reflection, PLLS aims to build leadership capacity, foster collaboration, and refine professional learning practices to advance equity and continuous improvement for education leaders.
