Alifea Davis is a Master’s degree candidate in the 24th Cohort of the Principal Leadership Institute at UC Berkeley’s School of Education. Alifea was raised in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a student-athlete. Graduating, with intentions of becoming a lawmaker for social justice, Mr. Davis attended New College of California School of Law and Golden Gate University School of Law earning a Juris Doctorate and Latin Legum Magister, respectively.
Alifea is the Founder and Executive Director of The Diaspora Institute, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide education for a sustainable future. He has been an educator for over 14 years and working with youth for over 24 years. He has taught a myriad of subjects including: physical education, speech and debate, mathematics, African-American identity, Conflict Resolution, and Leadership.
He has served in several leadership roles including Board Chair for Silver Oak (now Twin Oaks) Montessori Charter School in Hayward, CA, Chairman of the Omega Gents Mentoring and Tutoring program in Oakland, CA, Dean of Students at Leadership Public Schools Oakland, Site Lead for Restorative Practices, School Site Council member, Instructional Leadership Team, and Equity Team at various schools in Oakland Unified and San Lorenzo Unified School Districts.
When he gets leisure time, Alifea enjoys watching documentaries, and spending time with his wife and kids watching movies, traveling, and sitting on the beach.
