Communities of Action

As the BSE strives to continually grow and thoughtfully respond to the evolving challenges in education and within our learning community, these efforts invite and necessitate the voices, talents, insights, and collective engagement of our entire community.

BSE Equity, Climate and Culture Committee

The BSE Equity, Climate, and Culture Committee brings together faculty, staff, and students to promote equity, inclusion, and a healthy school climate across the Berkeley School of Education. The committee advises the dean and broader community on issues of equity, belonging, and well-being, and works to support these principles through policies, practices, and culture. Through policy review, programming, and community engagement, the committee fosters transparency, accountability, and a more just and inclusive BSE.

Restorative Justice Ambassadors

The Restorative Justice Ambassadors are a student-led group, who seek to support a culture of accountability, healing, and community at the Berkeley School of Education. Grounded in restorative practices, the ambassadors support peers in navigating conflict, unveiling the unspoken rules of academia, building relationships, and championing collective care. They facilitate restorative circles, offer peer-to-peer support, and collaborate with faculty and staff to address harm and rebuild trust. Through ongoing training and reflection, the ambassadors employ justice-centered approaches to community-building and repair.

Diversity and Community Fellow

The Diversity and Community Fellow is a student leadership position, who serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration to address systemic barriers, amplify student voices, and foster a more inclusive school climate. Their responsibilities include organizing events that bring together all BSE community members, facilitating community dialogues, supporting data collection for policy recommendations, and collaborating with other Committees of Action.
