Destiny Andrews

Destiny Andrews is a proud Bay Area local, a dedicated educator of over ten years, and a current member of the 25th cohort of the Principal Leadership Institute at UC Berkeley’s School of Education. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to social justice and educational equity, with a focus on dismantling oppressive systems to create transformative change for historically underserved communities.

Destiny teaches 4th and 5th grade at Oakland Academy of Knowledge, a public community school in East Oakland. As the daughter of Filipino immigrants and a first-generation college graduate, she brings lived experience, cultural pride, and resilience to her work in education. She earned a B.S. in Human Development from UC Davis, where she later completed her teaching credential and M.A. in Education.

She is an inaugural Prentiss-Charney Fellow with the Zinn Education Project and a certified Healing Centered Practitioner through Flourish Agenda. Destiny is currently pursuing National Board Certification in Literacy: Reading and Language Arts for Early and Middle Childhood.

Beyond the classroom, Destiny is a second-hand slow-fashion enthusiast, a collector of perfect pens, and an outdoor adventurer alongside her husband and son.
