Emily Springhart is a Master's degree candidate in the 24th cohort of the Principal Leadership Institute program at UC Berkeley's School of Education. Her educational interests include special education, program development, mental health supports and services, and inclusive educational practices.
Emily currently works as a school psychologist in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, where she serves as the co-chair of the Psychology department as well as the district behavior team. She is also an active cadre member of CAPTAIN (California Autism Professional Training and Information Network) and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She enjoys providing training and coaching on evidence-based practices to paraeducators and teachers across the district.
Emily earned her BA in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College. She began her career in education as a 2008 Teach for America corps member, at which time she worked as a special education teacher in WCCUSD. Emily continued teaching for two more years before becoming a school psychologist. She holds an MA in Special Education from Alliant International University and an MA in Counseling: School Psychology from Saint Mary’s College of California.
A Bay Area native, Emily loves working within her community to foster inclusive and equitable opportunities for all students. In her free time, she enjoys baking, hiking, gardening, playing board games, and spending time with her new puppy.
