Gerry Gómez

Gerry Gómez is a bilingual educator with 15 years of experience in the San Francisco Unified School District. He began his career as a dual immersion elementary teacher at Marshall Elementary School, where he later served as a literacy coach, leading schoolwide efforts to improve literacy outcomes for multilingual learners.

A passionate advocate for arts integration, at Marshall Gerry developed and facilitated theatre-based projects that supported language development and student engagement across content areas. He has also mentored both new and experienced teachers in curriculum design and implementation, with a focus on culturally responsive practices.

Originally from Mexico, Gerry has called San Francisco home for the past 25 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and earned his teaching credential from San Francisco State University. He currently teaches Spanish – World Languages at Galileo High School, where he continues to build inclusive, student-centered learning environments.

Gerry is now a proud member of the 25th cohort of the Principal Leadership Institute Master’s Degree and Administrative Services Credential program at UC Berkeley’s School of Education. He brings to the program a deep commitment to educational equity, multilingual learning, and the transformative potential of public schools. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys gardening, attending live music events, and learning Croatian.
