Zubin Hu started his journey in China before moving to California at the age of 16 to attend high school. This transition sparked his curiosity about the American educational system motivating him to pursue a BA in Math with a concentration in Teaching from San Francisco State University. He then obtained his Single Subject Credential in Math and MA in Education at Mills College.
Since 2014 Zubin has been a dedicated teacher within the Oakland Unified School District, working across middle and high schools. Currently he teaches math at a public 6th - 12th grade school in Oakland. He takes pleasure in guiding students through their progression from 6th grade math through Algebra 2. His role allows him to observe and influence the mathematical development of students across multiple grade levels.
In addition to teaching, Zubin is a Master’s degree candidate in the 24th cohort of the Principal Leadership Institute at UC Berkeley. His dedication to educational excellence and leadership is driven by his belief in the transformative power of math education and his desire to create equitable learning opportunities for all.
Outside of the classroom, Zubin enjoys gardening, outdoor walking, and exploring new restaurants. These hobbies provide a balance to his professional life, allowing him to unwind and find inspiration in nature and culinary experiences.
