Asha Nidumolu

Asha Nidumolu (she/her) is a doctoral student in the Language, Literacy and Culture cluster of UC Berkeley’s School of Education. Her research interests lie at the intersections of sociocultural theories of literacy, teacher education, ethnic studies pedagogy, translingual pedagogies, and Cultural Historical Activity Theory. As a researcher and educator, Asha studies the liberatory potential of co-constructed learning environments that engage multiple ways of languaging and meaning-making.

Asha has 8+ years as a public school educator. She has taught high school Ethnic Studies and English in the Oakland Unified School District and worked as a writing coach and college access advisor in the Boston Public School District. She currently supports OUSD teachers in designing grading practices that privilege student learning and growth. As a Teacher Consultant with the Bay Area Writing Project, she has run community oral history projects with middle school youth and supports teachers in engaging with the diversity of linguistic repertoires in their classrooms.

Asha has a Single Subject English California teaching credential. She received her bachelor’s degree in American Studies and Psychology from Tufts University. Asha earned her master’s degree in Developmental Studies: Language and Literacy Education from the Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University.
