Elevate your leadership with the Accelerator for Visiting Education Leaders at Berkeley.

We offer customized programs, learning exchanges, and seminars for domestic and international educators, whether you're an individual or part of a group. 

Designed collaboratively by academic experts and successful PreK-University leaders, these programs combine research-based practices with proven strategies for translating theory into practice. Participants deepen their understanding of equity-focused leadership and develop skills to drive systemic change, while connecting with Berkeley School of Education alumni, faculty, and local school leaders. 

Program Offerings

Learning Exchanges: Peer Collaboration and Dialogue

Learning Exchanges are designed for individuals or small groups of visiting leaders and emphasize joint learning and dialogue between visiting education leaders, Bay Area school and systems leaders and Leadership Programs alumni. Participants visit exemplary schools,meet innovative leaders, and engage in equity-centered discussions on school and systems leadership.

Educational Leadership Preparation Seminar

Explore how Berkeley’s Principal Leadership Institute (PLI) and affiliated Leadership Programs train school leaders. Participants attend classes, meet faculty and students, and experience the program’s signature pedagogy for cultivating equity-focused leadership practices.

Leadership and Innovative Learning Institute

The School Leadership and Innovative Learning Institute is a customized, immersive program designed for groups of visiting education leaders. Participants explore current issues in school leadership and innovative teaching practices in the United States, while learning strategies to foster equity and innovation in their own educational contexts.

Through a combination of faculty presentations, school and district visits led by Leadership Programs alumni, and experiential tours, participants gain hands-on insight into effective leadership practices. Highlights include visits to initiatives such as the Bay Area Writing Project, the Lawrence Hall of Science, and the Academic Talent Development Program, as well as museums and community sites that connect theory to practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who typically comes to visit the Educational Leadership Learning Accelerator?

Both domestic and international educational leaders visit the Accelerator. Visitors come individually or in groups/delegations and can be affiliated with universities, school districts, charter schools, early childhood education programs or international educational institutions.

What does it cost to visit the Accelerator?

Our pricing is customized to meet the specific needs of our visitors.

What is included in the fees?

Generally the program fee covers sessions, instructional materials and refreshments. In some cases, lunch is provided. Program details can be customized to fit your group's needs.

Does your program make travel arrangements?

No, we do not help groups make travel arrangements. Please visit the UC Berkeley Visitor Services and the Berkeley Convention and Visitors Bureau websites for information on where to stay, transportation options, and top tourist sites.

How long ahead of a visit should I start planning?

Large group international visits can take upwards of 9 months to arrange while smaller group and individual visits can be arranged in 4–6 months.
